Peckwash Sea Kayak Expedition

John Chamberlin reports with words and pictures from his club's recent mission up the Derwent valley...

A bunch of ten intrepid explorers from Midland Canoe Club headed up the Derwent from Darley Abbey to Peckwash Weir. Tricky lines were encountered up some of the rapids, but everyone made it through safely...

The crew managed to rescue a distressed lamb from the water that might otherwise have drowned or starved. Good work. Then returned safely, making it back down through the rapids successfully for socially distanced tea and cake at the canoe club afterwards.
